Bio: Introduced to basic folk herbalism as a child, Nathan developed an interest in the wonders of nature at an early age. In his preteens Nathan met an older cousin who furthered his intrigue by opening him up to traditional western herbalism and energy/crystal healing. Unfortunately in 2002 his cousin passed away due to misdiagnosed late stage Lyme disease complications. This began an intrigue into the world of Lyme, however his studies did not truly begin until much later down the road.
In 2007 Nathan’s interest in herbal medicine was reignited and he began researching and dabbling with some basic herbs to better understand them. In 2010 he founded Forgotten Traditions and began producing herbal tea blends for commercial sale. At the same time he decided to take his studies to another level and sought out correspondence studies with which to gain further enlightenment. In 2011 Nathan became certified as a Master Herbalist through the Global Collage of Natural Medicine, yet continued his personal studies with conviction.
In June of 2013 Nathan attended the International Herb Symposium in Norton, Massachusetts, and upon returning home, discovered a nymph tick imbedded in his left hip. As symptoms started to arise Nathan strongly suspected he had been infected with Lyme and/or its co-infections. Instead of seeking out conventional medical attention Nathan decided that this would be a good opportunity to gain first hand herbal experience in this area. After nearly a year of struggle, experimentation, failure, renewed determination and eventual success he is currently living a normal and mostly unrestricted life.
In 2010 Nathan became deeply interested in Mycological study and In 2014 Nathan became a general member of the American Herbalist Guild in order to pursue deeper studies in both mycology and herbalism. Today Nathan believes in the power of mushrooms and uses them in nearly every aspect of his research and personal work. In March of 2014 Nathan decided he was becoming unsatisfied with the direction he had originally taken with Forgotten Traditions and seeking more time with his young family he took a four-month hiatus from his herbal business. August of 2014 he started to re-establish Forgotten Traditions LLC as an online bulk herb business with a strong focus on wildcrafted and cultivated mushrooms and herbs, to which he cultivates and wildcrafts himself with the aid of his wife and children (For more information visit http://www.ForgottenTraditions.weebly.com).
Nathan also freely offers his services as a general herbal adviser via email, answering simple herbal questions in order to continue his work and service to his community.
